About Güera Artistry

Healing, heritage, and identity through art.

Meet The Artist

Marina “Güera” is a proud Neuro-spicy, Mexican-American Latina artist, designer, teacher, and advocate who transforms her multicultural identity into art rooted in healing, heritage, and self-love, and expression. Born from her bicultural upbringing between Mexico and the United States, she has always lived with one foot in each world—an experience that informs her mixed-media paintings, wearable art, and crochet creations. The nickname “Güera,” once a casual reference to her light skin and eyes, has become a reclaimed part of her identity, a symbol of self-love, acceptance, cultural pride, and healing through creativity.

Multiple life-altering spine surgeries profoundly shaped Marina’s artistic journey, and she continues to navigate chronic pain in her recovery today. Art became a vital therapeutic outlet, blending her background in mixed-media visual arts with traditional ancestral medicine and spirituality rooted in Curanderismo and mindfulness practices. Through this, she has cultivated a practice of reclaiming the arts as medicine and a means of self-healing, drawing on both ancestral wisdom and regulation techniques. Her creative process became a way to honor the body, process trauma, and create spaces or moments for emotional restoration. This personal healing journey now fuels her passion for helping others connect with their identities and well-being through artistic expression.

Artistic Vision

More than aesthetics, Marina works with recycled textiles sourced in the U.S. and pairs them with traditional materials from local artisans in Mexico City—fusing environmental responsibility with cultural preservation. Each piece becomes a one-of-a-kind mosaic, handcrafted with intention, and made to celebrate identity in all its forms. Marina’s paintings are her most spiritually attuned medium, where symbolism is intentionally brought to light.

Values & Mission

GüeraArtistry is more than a brand—it’s a movement for honoring and returning, reconnecting to practices of self-healing, rooted in inclusivity and representation across all genders, body types, abilities, ethnicities, races, and neurotypes. Through workshops, collaborations, and community projects, Güera Artistry cultivates spaces of reflection and empowerment where people can feel seen, supported, and inspired to embrace their authentic essence. By sharing her integrated creative process and approach, Marina aims to create accessible regulation practices and spaces that foster connection and community care.
