Community Offerings: Experience Art, Regulation & Connection

Booking a session/workshop with Marina “Güera” is more than learning an art technique — it’s a space to reconnect with your creativity, emotions, and personal story. Each experience is crafted with warmth and intention, where art becomes a language for self-discovery.

Healing with the Arts is rooted in the belief that creative expression can help us process, soften our nervous systems, and return to our bodies, especially during moments of stress or disconnection. Blending intuitive art-making, guided meditation, and gentle somatic awareness with influences from ancestral healing practices rooted in Curanderismo, this workshop encourages you to engage with your internal experience in a way that feels supportive while maintaining autonomy. Together, we’ll practice connecting inward while also being held in a shared space, supporting a sense of belonging and co-regulation. There’s no pressure to create something perfect; this is about showing up as you are and allowing what’s present to take form.

You’ll leave with simple tools for grounding, a deeper connection to your body, and a piece of art to take home as a tangible reflection of what you moved through during the workshop. No art experience is needed; just come as you are.

Instructor Introduction

Güera Artistry is led by Marina “Güera,” a Mexican-American artist who transforms creativity into a tool for regulation, connection, and empowerment. Marina is a multidisciplinary artist and teacher whose work centers on healing through creative expression and community connection. She is the founder of Güera Artistry, where she draws on her bicultural upbringing to create inclusive, accessible healing through art, cultural wisdom, and community. Rooted in the belief that art and healing are both personal and collective practices, she explores how creativity can support emotional regulation, self-awareness, and reconnection to the body. Drawing on lived experience, Marina integrates nervous system awareness, relational healing, and culturally rooted practices to create moments in which individuals can slow down, look inward, and feel supported. She is especially passionate about making regulation tools more accessible, recognizing that many people move through chronic stress, pain, disconnection, and systemic barriers to care without consistent support.

By engaging creativity, individuals can access parts of themselves beyond language, bringing awareness to emotional patterns, reducing reactivity, and cultivating presence. Her work is both an offering and an act of advocacy: expanding access to healing practices and creating moments for connection, belonging, and reconnection to self and community.

Please note: The instructor is a Marriage and Family Therapy Candidate (MFTC); however, they are not engaging in therapeutic techniques or providing therapy. This is a creative, community-based space for learning and practicing regulation techniques, integrated through guided meditation and artistic media, informed by cultural practices, and designed to support individuals in promoting their own healing.

  • I asked Güera to create crochet plants based on a Pinterest photo, and she not only matched it—she made them even better! The quality and love in her work is undeniable. They now sit on my kitchen counter and always make me smile
